Tulips and Cherry Blossoms

 




Floriade in Canberra's Commonwealth Park on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin features extensive displays of flowering bulbs with integrated sculptures and other artistic features. This annual festival attracts tourists from around Australia and overseas in spring each year.

Mayfield Garden is a 64 hectare cool climate garden situated near Oberon. Owned by the Hawkins family, Mayfield Garden has been inspired by the magnificent gardens of Europe and features vast greenery vistas, an avenue of trees, dazzling seasonal colours and ornamental flowering.

Cowra Japanese Garden was designed by Ken Nakajima in the style of the Edo period as a kaiyū-shiki or strolling garden. The rocky hillside, manicured hedges, waterfalls, streams, and lakes provide a serene environment for a variety of aquatic birds. Special features of the garden include a Bonshō (bell), a traditional Edo cottage, an authentic open air tea house, and a Bonsai house. An annual Sakura Matsuri (cherry blossom festival) is held in the gardens during September celebrating the arrival of spring.

Bebeah is a 5 hectare garden at Mt Wilson featuring an extensive strolling path featuring many varieties of flowering plants, and a semi formal design including a lake.This garden is a fascinating mix of formal and informal elements, ancient trees next to hedges of flowering azaleas and camellias and various statues and sculptures. At the centre of the property is a large lake and the landscape gradually rolls down into a another tiny pond surrounded by native plants.
